Before dawn, a strange feral woman appears, not speaking but bringing a cure for Palani. In the morning he and Rosa search for her, discovering secret caverns in the mountain that speak of ancient prophecies, a powerful god, and a battle at the end of the world. Even stranger, Palani may have a role to play in this story, a role he doesn’t want but can’t seem to escape.
For it seems the god of the mountain gets what he wants, and he will do whatever it takes, from bringing allies to causing earthquakes to creating an entire new species of human, to secure futures for Palani, the mountain, and the entire world of Balia.
