The Lion and the Ladybug

Terry's Garden Book One

Young man playing piano. Cover of The Lion and the Ladybug

He thought a fairy garden was silly, and then it saved his life…

When eight-year-old Leo Jansen watches Meg Kenton move in across the street, he has no idea the bossy girl will become his best friend. She is pink and sunshine and boldness, and while Leo’s family falls apart, her world is his sanctuary. Then her family moves away, and Leo’s life goes to pieces.

In high school Meg returns, lonely and doubting her worth, hoping to connect with Leo again. The guy she finds is unrecognizable, a mean, rough troublemaker who can’t stand her. Always stubborn, Meg decides to see if her old friend is in there.

Leo is guarding dangerous secrets, and should Meg get too close, she’ll figure them out, and then the final strands of his existence will come apart. And yet he longs to be the boy she’s looking for and not the monster he needs her to see. She ties him in knots, and he’s almost too weary to care.

With enough determination and a little help from the enchanting garden behind her house, maybe Meg can save Leo’s life, and he can turn around and rescue her heart.

Book two of Terry’s Garden, stories about a huge family, an enchanting garden, and a love story that touches generations. Christian coming-of-age/romance novels for teens and anyone who remembers what it’s like to take those first wobbling steps into adulthood.

Jill's Notes

  • Poor Leo. I threw just about every bad thing that could happen to a guy into his life.
  • This book is also available in a duo with the next book.
  • The next book, Follow the Firefly, is this story again, more or less, told from Leo’s brother’s point of view.
  • This is my first series with a garden theme. The newest is Quiet Place Gardens.
  • The painting on this page is part of the original cover, painted by a teen artist friend years ago.
  • This book is in Kindle Unlimited.
