The Dusty Knight

Casa Flanigan Book Four

Cover of The Dusty Knight

Can a tarnished princess thaw her knight’s frozen heart?

Zeke has always felt protective of women, until a man-hating boss makes sure he’ll never work in his field again. Soon he finds himself driving across the country for a farm job while the farm’s caretakers are on their honeymoon. For unemployed, disillusioned Zeke, the opportunity is a dream come true. Animals, fresh air, and no people.

Brook has messed up her life. As the daughter of an exotic dancer, she fears having to live the same kind of life. She dreams of marriage and babies, and in desperation she hangs her hat on the wrong man and finds herself abandoned at a gas station in the middle of nowhere with nothing more than the clothes on her body.

Zeke can’t turn away from a damsel in distress, as much as he wants to ignore the lady stuck at the gas station. They cross the country to a farm where God begins to chip away the ice that keeps them separate, lonely, and hopeless. But the farm job is temporary. Will they have time to change their lives and find their way before the clock strikes midnight on their adventure?

The Dusty Knight is book four of the Casa Flanigan series, contemporary Christian romance.

Jill's Notes

  • I enjoyed writing Brook, who is sweet while being street-smart. Also, it’s interesting to include characters who don’t understand Christianity and view the world through their eyes.
  • One of the minor characters deals with her brand-new insulin pump. This is personal, because I, too, am diabetic and have a pump.
  • Zeke, the reluctant knight, made me smile. Although I didn’t intend it, there’s some Beauty and the Beast here. And a little Cinderella. Apparently this pair gave me a fairy tale vibe.
  • The wedding in this book was a great excuse to bring back many characters from the Boys and Girls series. Haven’t read them? Doesn’t matter. Brook and Zeke don’t know any of these people, either. You can all meet them together.
