How do you save a person who’s lost everything and can’t see any good on the horizon?

When Lauren Silverstein’s dad decides to go to seminary, and their family moves in with her cousins’ grandmother, Lauren is angry. Then she meets Tag MacBay, a guy who’s just moved to town after losing his brother in a car wreck, and her perspective shifts. She also finds her new best friend.

Along with her cousin, Justin, Tag and Lauren face school, grief, bullies, and misunderstandings together. But just when they think they’ve figured out their new life here, Lauren’s mom and Tag’s dad shock them all, ruining two families and driving Tag deep into depression.

Lauren’s parents decide to move away to fix their lives, and Tag is left alone. Lauren knows he’ll never make it without God’s extra special care. What she hadn’t realized was that she had held that role all along, and yet what can a high school girl do to save a life?

Christian coming-of-age/romance novels for teens and anyone who remembers what it’s like to take those first wobbling steps into adulthood.

Jill's Notes

  • Dragonfly Creek, the B&B from a couple books ago, plays a big role in this story.
  • Like Tag, I lost a brother, although not in a car wreck like Tag’s. This was the first time I wrote about a character losing a brother, and it wasn’t easy. My family grieved much better than Tag’s did.
