Pose

Girls Aglow Book Five

She's hiding from her future.

Cover of Pose

When Nita Welles’ mother is committed, Nita runs. Not that she tells anyone that. No, her reason for coming to school and being Holly’s new roommate has to do with her and Holly’s shared dreams of creating a fashion design business. But the reality is she’s scared to death of turning out just like her mom, and she doesn’t see any way to avoid it. Worse, what will happen to friends or boyfriends if she gets close and then hurts them?

Scott works in her apartment building, a great-looking guy with a heap-load of issues. Together the pair of them will drag each other down, she’s sure. But the more she gets to know him and his heartbreaking inability to see how amazing he is, the more she wonders if two fearful, broken souls might be able to lift one another up to a better place, if together they’re worth the risk.

Jill's Notes

  • Scott was a satisfying character to write, a man who does not see himself right at all. Unfortunately, I have no idea how I would ever put him in an audiobook, since the man stutters. I would have to hire a very talented voice actor, which will never be in the budget.
  • From here forward, this series alternates from stories told here on campus to stories set near Brenda’s Florida beach house. I liked the back and forth.
  • I had to do a deep dive into head injury for this book. The big conclusion? Every brain is different, so every head injury is different, so I could do whatever I wanted. Scott is uniquely Scott.
  • Holding True, a free book from this site, is all about Scott and Nita’s son (and the daughter of a Terry’s Garden couple). I loved seeing Scott and Nita in the future.
  • This book is in Kindle Unlimited.
